Treatment

Depending upon the severity of your periodontitis, treatment can go from relatively simple, to more invasive in advanced periodontitis. Caught in the early stages, our Dentist or Dental Hygienist will thoroughly clean the pockets of bacteria to prevent more damage. Scaling, root planing and antibiotics are options we use to eliminate the infection-causing bacteria.

Treatment in the case of a severe infection can range from surgery, known as “flap surgery” to the replacement of damaged tissue, using of soft tissue grafts. If the periodontitis has destroyed the bone supporting your teeth, it would require bone grafting. There are several methods available for successful bone replacement. Our Dentists will share those methods with you, should you require such treatment.
