Dentures in Hamilton

Get new dentures or maintain and repair your full or partial dentures. These modern dental prostheses can replace several or all of your teeth with minimal discomfort.

Candidates for Dentures

Did you know that around one-quarter of adults over the age of 65 are missing all of their teeth? Dentures are a common and respectable solution to missing teeth. They are so dependable and natural-looking that you’ve probably spoken to someone with dentures and didn’t even know it. Do you think you might be a good candidate for dentures?

To be a good candidate for this restorative treatment you should:
  • Wish to replace several or all of your teeth.
  • Not smoke or use other tobacco products.
  • Have a healthy jawbone (we can help you with this!).
  • Not suffer from dry mouth.
  • Be prepared to take good care of your dentures at home.
  • Continue to visit the dentist for routine exams – just like with natural teeth!

How do I take care of my dentures? Take care of your dentures with routine cleanings and examinations. Even patients with perfect prosthetics need to visit their dentist from time to time. During your visit, we will take a look at your dentures and how they’re fitting and we will also examine your gums, tongue, jaw and mouth inside and out. In short-- we care about your oral health. Not just your teeth.

To care for your dentures at home:
  • Remove dentures overnight to let your mouth rest.
  • Soak dentures in warm water with or without denture cleanser.
  • Do not soak dentures with metal clasps in anything but warm water.
  • When not wearing dentures, keep them in water so they don’t dry out and warp.
  • DO NOT soak in hot water.
  • With dentures removed, clean and massage your gums.
  • If your toothbrush hurts your gums, run it under warm water or try using a finger wrapped in a clean damp cloth.
  • If you have partial dentures, brush your natural teeth as usual.

Cost of Dentures in Hamilton

In you can expect to pay approximately $900 - $3500+ for full or partial dentures. The cost of dentures varies widely because there are dentures to suit many different needs. Full-mouth dentures can cost anywhere from $1,800 to $3500 and up. The cost for a full set of implant-supported dentures averages out to about $30,000 as a ball-park estimate.

How is the cost of dentures determined? Here are some important factors:
  • The type of denture you need.
  • Dental extractions or other required preparations.
  • Xrays that may be needed.
  • Whether or not you get supportive implants.

Every case is different so it's important to speak with a dentist and to have an oral exam to allow us to evaluate your unique situation and provide you with different treatment options to consider. We would be happy to provide you with a more accurate quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dental bridges can be used to restore a gap caused by 1 to 3 missing teeth. Any number of missing teeth can be restored using dental implants. Dental implants typically have a higher initial investment cost and certain health requirements to qualify as a candidate for treatment.
With routine care and maintenance, your dentures should be good for 5 - 10 years. Aside from wear and tear on the dentures themselves, your mouth also changes over time and you may eventually decide it’s best to get fitted for a completely new set.
Yes, you can wear your dentures to bed but its recommended that you don’t. You should get into the habit of taking them out at night to soak so you can clean your mouth, gums and remaining natural teeth and then give your gums and jaw a chance to rest.
Your top dentures should suction to your gums. Your bottom dentures float above your gums but stay in place easily. Partial dentures should stay in line with natural teeth without moving very much. Implant-supported dentures snap in place and remain stable. If you’re questioning the fit of your denture, you are welcome to book an appointment so we can check your fit and make adjustments as needed.
After you’ve had some time to adjust to your dentures you should be able to eat almost anything. There are some foods that are hard on your dentures or that might cause rubbing or irritation. Foods that are hard or sticky like caramel, carrot sticks or a tough cut of meat or foods that contain little particles like popcorn or seeded crackers might present some challenge and should perhaps be enjoyed only as an occasional treat.

I love and respect these guys gor all their care and concern. They squeezed me in for a toothache that needed antibiotics. The elevator wasn't working at the time and I couldn't walk up the stairs as I am in a wheelchair. Dr. GROVER came right outside with Barb his assistant and looked at my tooth, gave me a prescription and made arrangements for a tooth canal... I was a dental assistant myself and I know what I'm talking about. He is 1 of 2 best dentists in the city. I highly recommend him and his team. Rosemary

We went to Grover Dental for a second opinion after my wife had years of ongoing tooth pain that multiple visits, scans, X-rays, and root canals never fully resolved at her previous dentist. A new dentist had taken over her old practice and quickly recommended removing the tooth,.. with very little investigation, which didn’t sit right with us. Dr. Grover wasn’t in yesterday, but another dentist at the office saw her right away and the difference was immediate. They took the time to listen, reviewed her history, and did proper diagnostic work instead of guessing. They were able to pinpoint the exact source of the pain and discovered a cavity underneath an existing filling that had been missed for years. They treated it properly, fixed the filling, and saved the tooth.., it never needed to be removed. The entire team was professional, informative, and genuinely cared about getting it right. We’re incredibly relieved and grateful we came here. If you’re dealing with unresolved dental pain or feel rushed into major decisions, I highly recommend Grover Dental.

I desperately needed a broken tooth remove that was so painful, the swelling and pain was spread throughout the entire left side of my face. Dr. Whig and his staff came through for me with quick and friendly service, pain-free extraction that was properly numbed, and answered all my questions without hesitation. Prices were exactly what was expected and were able to direct-bill my insurance, so I didn't have to pay out of pocket and wait for reimbursement. I have officially changed dentists to Grover Dental Care with Dr. Whig and his staff based off this experience. Thank you so much.
